Michael Scott Peters, lovingly known as Mike, passed away on October 21, 2026, at the age of 61.

Mike had a big heart, an adventurous spirit, and a generosity that knew no bounds. He was the kind of person who would give someone his last dollar if he thought they needed it more than he did. He could be incredibly stubborn, but that was simply part of what made Mike who he was. He had a genuine way of connecting with people and was liked by just about everyone who crossed his path.

Mike loved the outdoors, from his younger days of rock climbing to camping, cooking, and enjoying the beauty of nature. Lake Placid and the Adirondacks held a special place in his heart. He loved the mountains, the peaceful surroundings, and the community he called home.

His neighbors meant the world to him. They were much more than people who lived nearby; they were an important part of his life. Mike treasured those friendships and the sense of community he found in Lake Placid.

Mike is survived by his loving sisters, Lee Nilsestuen and her husband, Eric, and Lisa Comito and her husband, Greg; his niece and nephews, Brian Mayer and his wife, Heather, Lauren Mayer and her husband, Ed, Andrew Mayer and his spouse, Dillon, Ben and Matthew Comito; and his aunts, Ronnee Peters and Elizabeth Peters.

And, of course, no remembrance of Mike would be complete without mentioning his beloved dog, Ryder, his faithful companion who held a very special place in his heart.

Mike will be remembered for his big heart, his stubborn streak, his extraordinary generosity, and the many friendships he made along the way. He lived life on his own terms, loved deeply, and left a lasting impression on those fortunate enough to know him.

He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
